BJP must clarify charges against Gadkari: Congress

October 24, 2012 by politicalmirror in Political Mirror

New Delhi: The Congress Wednesday asked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to answer the charges of corruption hurled at its chief Nitin Gadkari instead of defending him.

“It a serious matter. The BJP should clarify as another former president, Bangaru Laxman, had also faced corruption charges,” said Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi. Media reports Tuesday said that an infrastructure company IRB gave a Gadkari company a loan of Rs.165 crore, two years after IRB was awarded road contracts by

Gadkari when he was the Maharashtra PWD minister.

The BJP has said that any competent authority could probe the charges.
